Google announced on Nov 19 that they would start automatically captioning many YouTube videos using their Google Voice technology. This is great news for improving accessibility of videos. Although we believe that automated transcription has a ways to go before it is as good as human-powered transcription, we think that the more transcription there is, the better.
In addition to automated captioning (which is for a subset of videos), you can upload a transcript for a video, and Google will figure out how to make the captions. This means a CastingWords transcription can be used as captions for any YouTube video -- and remember, we can even do song lyrics.
Pretty cool stuff!
